Great Start to Winter!

Great news for Ontario snowmobiling!

Last fall at this time, we were in t-shirts and shorts, but Old Man Winter is not going to take that this season. This week the first snow fell in Barrie and Kapuskasing, and many points in between.

I was driving back to Toronto from Barrie late yesterday and the white stuff was really coming down. Guess I'd better get my snow tires on sooner than planned.

Better yet, the temperature dropped below freezing last night and that's just what we need to start a good freeze up. All in all, a much, much better start to winter than last season!

Winter is here in Barrie

Well getting up this morning hopefully gave us a view of what will be happening lots this winter, snow! Yes winter arrived with white stuff last night in Barrie.

Love to see the truck getting a white blanket.

These drivers might not be as excited as we are.

Winter is coming!

We need cold to freeze the ground.

It will not last, but let's hope this it a sign of things to come.

Toronto Snowmobile Show

You know the sledding season is getting closer when the Toronto Snowmobile Show is underway

Our 2011 APEX on display and test rider Mike Van Muyen is in the background hussling to hand out more magazines.

Hal can easily spend the weekend talking sleds, especially when he is sitting on a Polaris.

The Flying Dutchmen race trailer showing their snowcross sleds and something else as well.

Wow, a new champ ice oval sled! Are the Van Dolders returning to the ice ovals?
(Stay tuned on that one.)
Over at the ACSCC display there is always something that mainstream snowmobilers have not seen.
Not your usual tiger.......
This is very rare, a 1972 Chaparral, the very first company to put IFS on the track.

The show is wrapping up, and now it's time to start preparing trails, unless you are in the mountins and getting your first runs in at high altitude........
